Introduction to computer
The word computer has its origin in the word Compute, which means to calculate. Hence it is considered a calculating device in colloquial terms, but today its definition has changed because now its usage is not limited to just calculations, today it is being used in many other fields like graphics, internet, music etc. So now we can say that it is an electronic device that accepts data and converts it into information after a detailed step-by-step processing. Which we call output. The computer accepts, stores and manipulates the data.
What is computer
Computer Definition- A computer is an electronic device that takes data about an object as input and performs a necessary output on it by performing the necessary operations on it.
Types of Computer
The types of computers are:
(1) Analog computer
(2) Digital computer
(3) Hybrid computer
Analog computer-
In analog computers, data transmission takes place in a straight line, which we call transmission. Such as temperature, mercury, pressure and other physical trends, etc.
Digital computer
Digital computers are computers that follow digital technology. Microprocessor is used in these. Which can execute millions of instructions in a second. They are also divided into four parts, which are as follows -
1- Micro computer
2- Mini computer
3- Mainframe computer
4- Super computer
1- Micro computer
A microcomputer is the smallest computer in which ALU and CPU are connected to the same chip.
2- Mini computer
They are more efficient than microcomputers and can be used by many users at a time, it processes data more rapidly. We common people use it for small things.
3- Mainframe computer
Mainframe computers are very large sized computers with very high storage capacity, they process large amounts of data rapidly, they are used in banks, large companies and government departments.
4-Super computer
These computers are of high speed and high efficiency. Their size is quite large, the first supercomputer Cray-1 was developed by Cray Research Company in the year 1949. India's first supercomputer is Param - 10000.
Hybrid computer-
This type of computer has a mixture of characteristics of both analog and digital computers. Hybrid computers are most commonly used in the medical field, such as - ECG machine
Input-
Anything outside the data is said to be input inside the computer, and through which it is input, it is called an input device like -
Input devices- 1- keyboard
2-Mouse
3- scanner
Output-
The process of getting out of an information computer is called output and through which data comes out, we are called output devices like -
Output devices- 1- Monitor
2-speaker
3- printer
Data-
We do not know the words without meaning, which have no name or identity, by the name of the data.
